Online training events

Trainer’s technical issues: If a trainer experiences technical difficulties i.e. loss of internet, which impacts the majority of the session, the event will be rescheduled at no extra cost.

Participant’s technical issues: If technical difficulties affect your participation, you must notify DALC immediately (messages can be left during out of office hours), and you can reschedule at no additional charge. Failure to make contact at the time will be treated as non-attendance without notice and will be charged at full price.

Safety: Online events are interactive; do not attend while driving or in unsafe environments. If you are removed for unsafe participation, your council will be charged the full cost.

Recording: DALC does not record live online training sessions.  This ensures a safe and open environment for all participants, where they can engage freely without concern of being recorded.

In-person events

Trainer issues:  If for any reason, the trainer is unable to deliver the majority of the course as planned, the event will be rescheduled at no extra cost.

Participant issues: Non-attendance without cancellation notice will incur the full cost of the course booking.  In exceptional circumstances that do not allow sufficient notice to be given, it is at DALC’s discretion whether to issue credit for an alternative course.

Training bookings, cancellations and fees

Bookings: Bookings should be made in accordance with the council’s own procedures.  Where an individual may be associated with more than one council, bookings can only be made in one council’s name for billing purposes.

Right to refuse bookings:  DALC reserves the right to refuse any booking at its discretion.  Situations where DALC may refuse a booking include but are not limited to; previous instances of late cancellations or non-attendance without notice, council history of late/missing payments, and participant behaviour at past events.

Cancellations and rebooking: 7 days’ written notice is required for cancellations. No charge applies with sufficient notice. Less than 7 days’ notice or non-attendance will incur the full course fee. Rebooking within the 7-day period defers the charge but subsequent cancellations will incur the full fee.

Substitutions: Substitutes may attend in place of the original participant with prior notification.

Fees and payment: Invoices for DALC training are raised after the event and will show attendance/non-attendance at training and events. Partnership training will be invoiced at the time of booking. Invoices are charged to the council stated on the booking, and cannot be split between councils. Full payment is required within 30 days of the invoice date.

For free events, such as the DALC Summer Socials, we reserve the right to invoice the council at our discretion to recoup costs in the event of non-attendance or late cancellation.

Credit:  At DALC’s discretion credit maybe applied to individual circumstances.

In-house council events

 Fees:

  • Fees for in-house training will be quoted on request and will vary depending on the type of training and duration.
  • Fees will include the trainer’s time, preparation, travel expenses, and resources.
  • An invoice will be issued upon confirmation of the training session, with full payment required within 30 days of the invoice date. DALC reserves the right to cancel or postpone the training if payment terms are not met.

Cancellations and postponements:

  • If the council wishes to cancel or reschedule a confirmed training session, the following charges will apply:
    • More than 14 days’ notice: no charge
    • 7 – 14 days’ notice: 50% of the total fee
    • Less than 7 days’ notice: 100% of the total fee
  • If DALC needs to cancel or postpone the training due to unforeseen circumstances, DALC will offer an alternative date or a full refund if a suitable date cannot be arranged.

Council responsibilities (venue and equipment)

  • The council is responsible for providing a suitable venue for the training. The venue must meet the following requirements:
