Parish Clerk/RFO: Cheriton Bishop Parish Council

Parish Clerk/RFO: Cheriton Bishop Parish Council

Cheriton Bishop Parish Council is looking for a new parish clerk & responsible finance officer. The successful applicant will have administrative and financial skills to deal with agendas and minutes for the monthly meetings, manage and report on spending and income, as well as generally ensuring compliance with local government rules and processes.

Previous experience in a local government role and a certificate in Local Council Administration would be an advantage, but not essential, as training will be offered and enthusiasm to learn will be seen as an alternative to formal qualifications.

Proficiency in using a computer is essential, as are a positive and friendly outlook, flexibility and good communication skills.

The Clerk is expected to work from home, for which an allowance is paid, and a mobile phone and computer equipment are provided.

The Clerk attends the monthly meetings on the second Monday of the month (except August) and may sometimes be asked to travel to other meetings or to training sessions.

Working hours are currently 336 per year, based on an average of 28 hours per month, although this is likely to vary during the year.

We offer a salary of approximately £15 per hour for a suitably qualified person.

To apply for the role, please email the current Clerk at clerk@cheritonbishop-pc.org.uk or, for an informal discussion, please call the chairman on 07932 660550.
