The National Joint Council for Local Government Services has agreed on pay rates applicable from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027. The new pay rates are each increased by 3.3 per cent per annum.
Some key information:
An increase of 3.3 per cent*, which will be backdated from 1 April 2026.
Backpay for employees who have left employment since 1 April 2026: if an ex-employee requests it, we recommend that employers pay any monies due to that employee from 1 April 2026 to the employee’s last day of employment.
When salary arrears are paid to ex-employees in the Local Government Pension Scheme, the employer must inform its local LGPS fund.
To keep pace with the National Minimum Wage, the former SCP2 has been abolished from 1 April 2026.
